Abdul M. Ismail Discussion started by Abdul M. Ismail 7 years ago

Dear colleagues,

I'm taking the liberty of forwarding an annoucement for the next LAGA on behalf of Graham Weaver, SSP1990.

Please note that a facebook event has been created (https://www.facebook.com/events/1495626557403243/1495628104069755/) but you'll have to first request to join the ISU*UK group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/ISU.UK.Alumni/) in order to confirm attendance.

If you don't use facebook, please write to Graham directly atgraham.weaver@btinternet.com.

Either way, can you please indicate if you will attend one or both of the planned events by e-mailing or messaging Graham via facebook?

Best wishes,

Ab, MSS2001

Dear all,

I'm contacting you again to let you know that the next London Alumni GAthering (LAGA) will be held on Saturday 5th December.

LAGA - Part 1
In a variation on the 'classic' LAGA format, the idea this time is to meet up at the Science Museum (Exhibition Rd, Kensington, London SW7 2DD) at 15.45 and visit the "Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age" exhibition as a group. http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/visitmuseum/Plan_your_visit/exhibitions/cosmonauts.aspx
The normal cost is £14 per person, but they'll give us a group rate of £6 each.
Because this is a ticketed event (with entry times every 15 minutes), I will need to know numbers very quickly. So if you'd like to come along to this part of the LAGA can you please let me know ASAP!
I'll make a booking at the end of September if we have sufficient numbers. For anyone deciding to attend after this date - I may be able to add you, I may not - depending on how the exhibition timeslots are filling up.

LAGA - Part 2
The museum shuts at 18.00, after which we'll go for a meal at the nearby Pizza Express (7 Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge, London SW3 1NQ), with a start time of 18.30. This is a bit earlier than usual but it does give people time afterwards to go on to drinks, clubs, etc.
I'll need to know approximate numbers soon so that I can make a booking.

Getting there
The nearest Underground station to the Science Museum is South Kensington on the Circle and Piccadilly lines.
The nearest Underground station to the Pizza Express restaurant is either South Kensington or Knightsbridge on the Piccadilly line.

As always, the event is open to all alumni, wherever you're living and no matter your nationality - this is NOT a "Brits only" event.

You don't have to attend both parts of the event - you can come to either part or both - its up to you... BUT PLEASE do let me know ASAP!

I'll send periodic follow-up messages with a list of who's coming. I hope to see many of you there!
